PT Hindoli plantation and mills
Cargill first invested in Indonesia oil palm plantations in 1996 when we acquired PT Hindoli in South Sumatra. PT Hindoli’s operations currently comprise about 21,000 ha of oil palm plantation producing fresh fruit bunches that we process at four company–owned mills into high-quality crude palm oil and palm kernel.
Producing palm oil sustainably
In 2009, PT Hindoli received its Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) certification, becoming not only the first Cargill-invested oil palm plantation to be certified sustainable by RSPO, but also one of the first oil palm plantations in Indonesia and the first in South Sumatra to receive this certification. In 2013, PT Hindoli also received certification under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) and Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) schemes.
Supporting local smallholders
Oil palm smallholder farmers contribute significantly to the success of our plantations. At Hindoli, we provide support to about 9,600 smallholders, many of whom are government-sponsored trans-migrants, who own about 19,000 ha of oil palm plantations.
