Cargill Unveils US$200 Million Palm Oil Refinery in Lampung Enhancing Traceable, Responsibly Sourced Edible Oil Supply

The facility marks Cargill’s 50 years of partnership and growth in Indonesia.

Lampung, Indonesia — 20 October 2025 — Cargill today inaugurated its new palm oil refinery in Lampung, Indonesia, enhancing the company’s capability to deliver fully sustainable and traceable palm oil to customers across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Marking 50 years of operations in the country, the state-of-the-art US$200 million facility underscores Cargill’s dedication to growing with Indonesia and strengthening its role in the global food and agriculture supply chain.

The Governor of Lampung, Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, S.T., M.M., stated:
“We welcome the selection of Lampung as the location for Cargill’s new refinery, which reflects investor confidence in the province’s potential as an investment-friendly destination, as well as in the growth of Indonesia’s industrial sector. This investment supports local economic development, creates job opportunities, and contributes to sustainable growth. We appreciate our partnership with Cargill and look forward to continued collaboration to further strengthen Lampung’s role in advancing Indonesia’s progress.”

Penne Kehl, Asia Pacific Group President of Cargill Agriculture and Trading, remarked:
“Cargill takes immense pride in our 50 years of growth alongside Indonesia. Our investment in this refinery marks a new era of partnership, as we advance the production of safe and sustainable palm products, build a resilient supply chain, and contribute to a safe, responsible, and sustainable global food system.”

The Lampung refinery is designed to process up to 3,000 metric tons of palm oil per day and is capable of refining one million metric tons of responsibly sourced and traceable palm oil annually. Equipped with a wastewater treatment plant, energy-efficient equipment, and a water management system designed to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment and surrounding community while maintaining excellent standards of product quality.

Azlan Adnan, Vice President & Managing Director of Cargill’s Tropical Oils business, said:
“Together with Cargill’s plantations and mills, this refinery strengthens our integrated end-to-end supply chain from plantation to customer, ensuring greater traceability and sustainability. It also enhances our capacity to meet growing demand for sustainable palm oil, while reinforcing our commitment to the communities where we operate.”

Cargill has also been actively supporting local economic development and community well-being. Through initiatives such as the Family Health and Environmental Awareness Program in Srengsem Village, the company has strengthened health services, improved family nutrition, promoted healthy lifestyles among school children, and advanced sustainable waste management practices.

As Cargill marks its 50th anniversary in Indonesia, this milestone not only celebrates shared progress but also reaffirms the company’s dedication to serving customers through innovation, supporting communities, promoting sustainability, and advancing responsible business practices.
