Cargill launches QMax series animal feed without antibiotics for hens in Indonesia
(Jakarta, Indonesia), 20 August 2019 - Cargill in Indonesia today announced the launch of QMax series, a set of animal feed products for laying hens offering the right nutrition for the hen’s specific growth phase to support healthy growth. Healthier birds are more productive and require fewer antibiotics—helping serve the needs of producers and consumers.
“Today’s breeders in Indonesia are faced with health issues of chickens, as well as fluctuating meat prices and egg prices, said Adi Widyatmoko, Business Development Manager for Cargill’s feed and nutrition business in Indonesia. In the past, breeders rely on antibiotic feed to help with health issues, however since early last year, the Indonesian government prohibited the use of Antibiotic Growth Promotors (AGP) in animal feeds. “This is what prompted Cargill to develop animal feed without antibiotics that can still address health concerns while increasing hens’ productivity to help farmers achieve better yields while at the same time comply with the Indonesian government regulation. Q-Max is developed to ensure laying hens can grow healthily and develop to produce optimally”.
QMax works by helping chickens achieve the best performance in each phase of life—from the starter phase all the way to production, thanks to new improved formula that includes ingredients such as fish oil to strengthen hen’s immunity, betaine that help improve healthy digestive system in hens, vitamins C and vitamin E for antioxidants to reduce stress and minerals that optimize the formation of the hen’s reproductive tract. This supports on-time production and longer production peaks for laying hens weighing up to 1.9 kilograms.
Several farmers who have uses QMax series is able to extend the peak of production from typically 20 weeks to more than 22 weeks. The resulting egg weight is also generally maintained at an ideal condition of about 60-61 grams. The calculation of economic analysis that we do, laying chicken farmers could potentially get an additional net profit up to Rp. 500/Kg After the use of QMax Series.
“Cargill Feed & Nutrition’s expertise in the global supply chain and risk management allows us to offer distinctive value to our customers through the production of high-quality feeds and efficient distribution,” said Widyatmoko. “At Cargill Feed & Nutrition we believe in better nutrition for better lives. This is how we help farmers improve their animals’ productivity, sustainability, and health and well-being.”
