PT Harapan Sawit Lestari and subsidiary plantation and mills

In 2005, we considerably expanded our palm plantation activities in Indonesia when we acquired PT Harapan Sawit Lestari and subsidiary in Kalimantan. The operations comprise 31,000 ha of oil palm plantation producing fresh fruit bunches that we process at two company–owned mills into high quality crude palm oil and palm kernel.

Producing palm oil sustainably

We believe that palm oil should be produced sustainably and we are committed to responsible and sustainable palm oil production on our own palm plantations. After we received the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Certification for Hindoli in February 2009, we are now working towards certification for Harapan that we hope to achieve as quickly as possible.

Supporting local smallholders

Oil palm smallholder farmers contribute significantly to the success of our plantations. At Harapan, we provide support to about 3,000 smallholders, who own about 6,500 ha of oil palm plantations.
